Buying help from a home care agency
Home care agencies, sometimes called Domiciliary Care agencies, are different from domestic agencies which provide staff to look after your home for cleaning, domestic help etc. Home care agencies provide personal care (help with feeding, dressing, bathing or toileting) or nursing care. Any agency providing personal or nursing care must be registered with the Care Quality Commission CQC. The CQC monitors and regulates these services and inspects them on a regular basis.
Most of the agencies provide services other than personal or nursing care as part of a care package; for example, domestic help, meal preparation and gardening. If you do not require personal or nursing care and are only looking for other services in the home, you may find it cheaper to use a domestic agency.

Employing someone yourself
Some people prefer to employ their own carer or personal assistant. This has the advantage that you will always have the same carer. If you are considering this option, you will need to think about your responsibilities as an employer.
